Living a life without regrets
In her book "The Top Five Regrets of the Dying," Bronnie Ware, who spent many years caring for terminally ill patients, shares what the most common regrets among her hospice patients were. The top 5 were as follows:
The top 5 regrets of the dying were:
"I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me."
"I wish I hadn't worked so hard."
"I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings."
"I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends."
"I wish that I had let myself be happier."
Out of all the regrets, the most common among her hospice patients was that they had not lived the life they had wanted to live. They had not pursued their dreams, and instead had spent their time living for others or being too afraid to take risks. How powerful is this reminder to us all that life is precious and that it's important to live it to the fullest?!
The time to live the life you dream of is NOW.
It’s probably going to come as no surprise when I tell you that this is particularly significant for us women, who often put the needs of others before our own. Society often expects us to prioritize our family, our careers, and our responsibilities, leaving us with little room for our own personal fulfilment. But as Ware's patients remind us, the time to live the life we dream of is NOW, not in some distant future.
It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and to put our dreams on hold. And we’ve got to remember that life is fragile and that we never know when our time will be up. We owe it to ourselves to pursue our passions and to live the life we have always wanted. It may not be easy, and it may require sacrifices, but it will be worth it in the end.
Pursue your passions, take risks, and live the life you have always wanted.
So, to all the amazing women out there, I want to remind you to take the leap. Follow your dreams, and don't let anyone or anything hold you back. Life is too short to have regrets. Pursue your passions, take risks, and live the life you have always wanted. You deserve it.
Living a life that is true to ourselves is a continuous process of self-discovery and self-acceptance. It's about understanding who we truly are and what we truly want, and then taking the necessary steps to align our lives with those values.
It’s about the person you become along the way
It's not just about achieving a certain goal or reaching a certain destination, it's about the journey and the experience, about the person you become along the way. It's about learning and growing, about taking risks and facing fears. It's about making memories and having stories to tell.
The most important thing is that you live with no regrets, that you can look back on your life with a sense of fulfillment, knowing that you lived it to the fullest!
